Scholarships

Eligibility

All dependent children of St. Louis County Police Association FOP member police officers or professional staff are eligible to apply for an annual collegiate scholarship. Applicants must currently be attending, or registered to attend, college or university for the upcoming semester. Being awarded a scholarship does not prohibit a student from applying the following year. Students can apply each year they attend college or university.

Scholarships Available

Up to five (5) scholarships will be awarded annually

  • One (1) $2000 scholarship will be awarded to first time recipients in honor of Detective Antonio Valentine.
  • Two (2) $1000 scholarships will be awarded to first time recipients.
  • Two (2) $500 scholarships will be awarded to previous recipients.
Application Procedures
  1. The application process is open from June 1 through June 30 each year. Applications must be received between these dates to be eligible for consideration.
  2. The officer or professional staff member’s dependent child must complete in full an Application for Scholarship which can be found at www.needofaid-slcpa.org.
  3. The officer or professional staff member’s dependent child must email the completed application to the foundation at needofaid@slcpa.org.
Application Review

Student and parent information will be removed from the applications, and a board appointed committee will review the application essays to determine each year’s winners.

Disbursements

Upon selection, the scholarship will be dispersed in the form of a check from Need of Aid and payable to the applicant by July 30 of the same year.
